A Hypothetical Question

If you had been living in Germany and had been fooled into voting for the Nazis in 1930 and for Hitler in 1932 , and again, along with 90% of the population, to confirm his dictatorial powers in 1934,  at what point, if ever, would you have decided that your support for them was a ghastly mistake, and that you were ashamed to have done so?

Would it have been February 22, 1933  when he formed the SA and SS as Auxiliary police? Sort of like mandatory service that Rahm talked about in "The Plan" and Obama called for onthe campaign trail?

Would it have been February 27, 1933  when the SA burned the Reichstag, trying to create a crisis and then assuming dictatorial emergency powers and ignoring the rule of law? You know like crisis situations with the  Swine Flu,  GM Bailoutextending wiretapping and rendition practices and the Patriot act, passing Obamacare and its unconstitutional individual mandate , or assuming powers over what can be transmitted on the internet, or even claiming a President needs no authorization from congress to invade another country?

Would it have been  March 13, 1933 when Hitler opened the New Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. Sort of like Obama's new Ministry of truth? .

Would it have been April 1, 1933 when the  Nazis staged a boycott of Jewish shops and businesses. You know, like the Progressive Unions  did in Wisconsin?

Would it have been  April 7th, 1933 when the  civil service administration, courts, and schools were purged of ‘alien elements’,- Sorta like how our Current Civil Servicepoliticization of Courts and schools are almost  entirely liberal now.

Would it have been April 11, 1933  when the Nazis issued a Decree defining a non-Aryan as "anyone descended from non-Aryan, especially Jewish, parents or grandparents. One parent or grandparent classifies the descendant as non-Aryan...especially if one parent or grandparent was of the Jewish faith." Sort of like Democrats now say Conservative Blacks are not Real BlacksConservative Gays are not real Gays, and Conservative women aren't real women?

Would it have been May 2, 1933 when all workers were forced to join the  new German Labour Front (DAF). You know, sort of like Obama's Card Check would allow goons to force people into unions without a secret ballot?

Would it have been  September 1933 when the  Nazis established the Reich Chamber of Culture, then excluded Jews from the Arts. You know sort of like when Obama uses the National Endowment for the Arts funds for Propaganda, and how conservatives and their viewpoints are kept out of Hollywood productions.

Would it  have been  Sept 29,1933 when Jews (who in Germany were portrayed as a class of rich, greedy business owners and bankers)  had their right to own land  taken from them , followed in subsequent years by gold and silver, businesses, homes, and all other forms of wealth? Sort of like what Obama wants to do to violate every American's  right to property.

Would it have been October 4, 1933 when Jews were prohibited from being newspaper editors? Kind of like now where there is huge liberal media bias and liberals wish to have conservatives silenced.

Would it  have been Jan 24th 1934 when Jews were  banned from the German Labor Front (basically preventing them from working)  -effectively taking from them their right to pursue happiness. Kinda like when Obama says  the government can decide when  some people have earned enough money And not just from everyone.. but especially  from the  evil, greedy rich (conservative)  bankers and businessmen.?

Would it have been May 17th, 1934 when the Nazis ruled Jews are not allowed national health insurance, or May 21, 1935  when  Nazis banned  Jews from serving in the military, or June 26, 1935 when the Nazis passed a law allowing forced abortions on women  or January 1937 -when Jews were banned from many professional occupations including teaching Germans, and from being accountants or dentists..  All of these rulings violated the right  of  liberty  of the Germans by reducing their choices. Sort of like every Democratic policy does - from banning the domestic drill of of oil ( unconstitutionally) , to what food they can eatwhat causes  they must support, and even what sort of health insurance they must buy.

Would it have been July 6, 1938  when Nazis prohibited Jews from trading and providing a variety of specified commercial services.- Sort of like when Obama used political preferences to decide who would get Obamacare waivers, and which GM Dealerships would be shut down, and unions being bailedout to the exclusion of the rightful bondholders, and the placement of cronies into positions of power in various banks and other corporations.

Would it have been November 9/10, 1938 , the   Kristallnacht - The Night of Broken Glass,  The night they confiscated the firearms of German citizens? Like Obama is working behinds the scenes to dopossibly using a UN treaty?

Would it  have been in 1939 when Jews  had their right to life taken from them in a systematic attempt to exterminate them? Like the Democrats now propose denying the right to life even to those citizens fully grown, and relishing the thought of exterminating those who don't agree with them

Would it have been November 23, 1939 when the Nazis required Yellow stars to be worn by Polish Jews over age 10. Sort of like when Liberals call for branding of Global Warming Deniers.

Or would it have been even later after the death tolls really mounted?

I know it seems like I am demonstrating Godwin's law, so let me be clear that  I DO NOT think that Obama has the same intents, goals or ends as Hitler and the Nazis had. I am just noticing that,  morally, there doesn't seem to be a lot of difference in the Moral Principles of the two ideologies, as both seem to have no moral issues with ignoring due process, violating agreements, violating the principles of rule of law, nor violating the inalienable rights of individuals. But I am sure there are very real differences that make the actions Of Obama and Democrats morally justified and Hitler's actions wrong. I am just not sure what those are.. Maybe someone could help me out and explain the differences in the comments?

Tax the Rich! till they are poor, and you pay for a Year of Spending

Take a look at the per-share of tax burden data  for 2006

The top 20% of income earners pay more than their "fair share" of the tax burden already. When a liberal says "fair share" it is hard to tell what it means, but I can guarantee it never means  “fair share” of the labor or risk it takes to make the money that is taxed - and in this case it is not even a “fair share” of the percentage of the money made.  Wealth is not a zero sum game- if one man got richer he did not do so at the expense of a poorer man. What happened was wealth was created - the Rich  man provide value to others they were willing to pay for – more value than the poorer man did. But lets find out more about these self-righteous rich people who dare to make more money than other people through voluntary transactions?

The
CBO gives the following income ranges for 2006
The top quantile in 2006 started at an AGI of $71,200, the top 10% was at $95,000, the top  5% started at $134400 and  the top 1% $332900.

According to the IRS (pg 6) we find that there were 138,394,754 tax returns filed in 2006. of those 92,740,927 actually owed taxes - so already 33% of all people who had to file paid NOTHING as their "fair share." On Pg 8, we find that Those who had the temerity to make more than 1 million a year in AGI filed 353,000 returns or 0.25% of all who filed. .  They paid 273 billion dollars in taxes  - or just about 26.6% of ALL federal revenues, and they made 16% of the taxable income ( as determined by AGI)  - So can anyone  explain how paying 26% of the taxes when you make only 16% of the pie is a "fair share"?

But 200K a year, that’s a lot. Lets call those earning over 200K a year, “rich”, These rich people filed 4,056,000 returns or 2.9% of all returns. They made  $2,.5 trillion in AGI, or 33.6% of the total taxable income in the United States and paid 544 billion in taxes, or 53% of all tax revenue. Again, I ask you to explain what is fair about making the people who earned 33.6% of the total taxable income, pay 53% of all federal tax revenue while 33% of people who file owe NO TAXES at all?

However, we got bills to pay, so  let’s confiscate100% of the AGI income of the "rich" earning over 200K  - that you would get you  544 Billion. Government expenditures all levels in 2006 was 4.7 Trillion. (http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/), federal spending was 2.6 Trillion   and that was in a good economy - before the crash of 2008, and the current problems. In 2008 actual spending at all levels was 5.3 Trillion, and at the Federal level it was 2.9 billion.  The estimated spending for 2010 is 6.8 trillion at all levels, and 3.4 trillion at the Federal level.

So  we are still coming up way short.  So lets return to the honey port and decide  that rich is anyone in the top 10% - any household that  earns over $ 100k. Of course many of these households have two wage earners earning 50-100K each.  They are normal, hardworking,  “Middle Class”  families struggling to save for college, pay mortgages, and in general trying to fulfill the American Dream. Let’s take all of their income as well.  When you add them in to the mix we find that they make  up 8.7% of all filers, make  21.5% of the total taxable income and pay 20.4% of the tax revenue.  If we take all of their income - that would bring in another 1.6 Trillion dollars to add to the 544 billion - so you could ALMOST pay for one year of 2006 Federal Government spending. But that is AGI.   On Pg.25 we have statistics for  unmodified income.  All households earning over $100K million a year made about 3.3 Trillion in income. If we took ALL of that income, we have enough and some to pay for a year of federal spending.  But for how many years could you do that? How many people would continue to earn over 100K if they knew that 100% of their income would be taken if they reached that amount?  Obviously  if the system is to be sustainable, we can’t take all of their income. Lets arrange the Federal taxes so each of the 16 Million households earning over 100K, is left with 50K of  income to pay other taxes, like social security, Medicare/Medicaid, vehicle  registrations  and  state and local incomes and sales taxes, with maybe a little left over to live on.  That  will remove 800 Billion back off our 3.3 Trillion - 2.5 trillion Just enough to pay for the federal tax bill - in 2006. Add to that the 270 Billion everyone else  earning under $100K pays and you still could not pay for the current Federal expenditures.

So go ahead. Try and "soak the rich. "  Unlike most of us, the rich have the option of leaving the pool . and they will be out before they get their ankles wet. The idea that “the rich” are bottomless pits of income that can solve our financial woes is simply wrong.  If we did  tax all income over 100,000 in such a way that we end up with 50K of take home for “the rich” - we are talking about marginal rates of 80% or higher  on dollars made over 100,000. This  will cause a change in behavior just as surely as taxing 100% of a person’s income would ensure that no one would earn  more than $99,999

A  hardworking middle class Joe who earns 70K and with his wife at 80K = have a combined income of 150K (damn rich people!) , but rates are such that you will keep $0.20 of  each additional dollar over  $100 K you earn. The  extra 10K in take home many not compensate for leaving your children in daycare. One or both people may cut back their hours or take a less stressful job, and chose to spend more time with their family rather than earn the $10K. Likewise, if I am an investor I may not feel it is worth the risk to start or fund a new company when 80-90% of any profit will be taxed away.  I may want to invest 1 million at a 20% return,  but the government will want 80-90 % of that return – yielding a real return of 3-4% . In most years such an investment will not even keep up with inflation!
The Marginal tax rates DO MATTER.  The Question is – how much?

There were 16000 households  who made over 10 million each in 2006, and   they made 399 Billion in  non-modified Taxable income  and paid 92.6 Billion in taxes; 9% of all tax revenue. They make up  0.0156% of all households that file. They have the option to quit working, close their businesses, sell their stock holdings  and live in luxury in the South Caribbean for the rest of their lives. Marginal  rates would have to rise pretty high to bother them however, because they earn so much. It takes money to make money- and they have money, so they don’t fret about it.  No, if the super rich leave it will be because they are tired of being vilified.  But all households  earning over 1 million a year  contribute only 273 Billion in taxes – about the same as those making 200K to 1 Million, and half what those who make 100k to 1 million contribute.

Somewhere on the way down to $100K, those marginal rates WILL matter- to the people who are trying to save so that they become millionaires – and now find that they can’t.  People earning from 200K to 1 million a year file 3.7 million returns ( 2.7% of all households) , and pay $261 billion in taxes . These are the small business owners- the ones who are trying to make it, but haven’t made it yet. They provide the vast majority of jobs in America and 25% of the tax revenue. What if they change their behavior?   What if the 12 million households earning between $100K and 200K decide it isn’t worth the effort?  They contribute 214 Billion in taxes – or almost 21% of all Federal Tax revenue. What if they decide to cut back on what they produce? After all, the drawbridge to real wealth and financial independence has been closed to them.

Current National Debt is 14 Trillion, unfunded liabilities for SS and Medicare/Medicaid are between  50-80 Trillion. “Taxing the rich” will not fix this problem – even if the rich include those making over $100K a year. The real wealth creators earn between 100K and 1 Million and provide almost 50% of the tax revenue in this country. The  more you tax them, the less they will make, the fewer jobs they will create and the more who will just give up.  Add on new taxes for Health Care and  Carbon emissions and see what happens. Of course the already Rich will and MUST grow richer- because it is only they who can afford to play the game, while the people who supported “tax the rich” polices complain about  the rich getting richer, increasing income disparity and the  environment of graft  that is the inevitable result of their “tax the rich” policy.

You can't get something for nothing.  If you want everyone to have health care you better find a way to get those who need it to provide enough value so their own labor will  pay for it.  You can't build them up by tearing the “rich” man down – numerically speaking, there just are not enough of them.

Don't Feed the Bears!

EMILY’S List launched a new campaign today to take on Sarah Palin's "Grizzly Mom" comments and, as usual, the left's capacity for self- parody astounds me. But watch it for yourself:

Yes! These dedicated  Mothers are the partially domesticated Bears they have to put down in National Parks because they are constantly looking for handouts -- and get dangerous when they are not appeased. In nature a bear fends for itself and its children without outside assistance - but the bears that discover they can bully humans for food loose that ability, and then become dependant and dangerous. The Lesson is "Don't Feed the Bears!"

The "Irrefutable" Liberal AGW Argument

I stumbled across this Video on YouTube detailing the irrefutable AGW argument, and then followed it to its sequel here.  Irrefutable? Only if you refuse to listen to or acknowledge the refutations, which this man obviously has.   I call this the “insurance” argument, and it is in fact quite common with the liberal crowd.

However, this video is an excellent demonstration of the  liberal inability to understand the simple idea of tradeoffs.    The ”argument” made is basically one of risk analysis , and he presents a chart of possibilities as a group of Lottery tickets. . Let’s compare them from the first video to the second:

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Notice how the “cost” has a smiley face next to it in the first video, and its completely gone from Column A in the second video- replaced with a neutral face.. What he is trying to hide here, either deliberately or subconsciously is that Economic Disaster is an assured outcome of the A ticket Regardless of if AGW is real or not. . And not just economic disaster – because everything we currently produce is based on CO2 emissions to some extent. We will have food shortages (pesticides, shipping), a decrease in health care (Drugs, Plastic)  and a general decrease in the standard of living. His argument rests on the premise that economic disaster is preferable to the second option on the B ticket - Catastrophic Warming and the result ( which in theory is worse than the pain and suffering caused by CO2 regulations)

When you buy automobile insurance, you know your car COULD end up in an accident. It might never be involved in one, but you know it COULD occur, since you have seen auto accidents as you drive down the street. The possibility that one might happen isn’t even in question. AGW is a different story, and the question does become one of “how likely is Catastrophic AGW” because of one simple thing: trade-offs.   The same chart could be used to claim we must spend huge amounts of money preparing  for an attack of mutant hamsters, a planet eating star goat, or the coming of the great white handkerchief in the hand of the  Great Green Arklesiezure.

You think those things aren’t likely because we can’t even prove they are possibilities? Pish Posh! Are you infallible? There might really be a Giant Mutant Star Goat headed our way right now,  we must build giant spaceships and flee!  It’s the only safe choice!

If one believes that survival trumps all other concerns, we must not only prepare for AGW, but for any eventuality, however ridiculous , remote or imaginary , that may threaten us.   We must.  It is irrefutable.

Logically we must pay any cost to ensure the survival of the species.  Unfortunately, those of us in the real world know we can’t because we have limited resources. We must make a trade off. As much as we would like to prepare for any event - we simply can't afford it.  You must   Prepare for the Mutant Star Goat OR for the Mutant Hamsters OR for AGW OR do nothing at all and use that wealth for other purposes.   Since we have limited resources, as well as limited knowledge of the risks that face us,  we must look at the actual facts supporting a threat before deciding that perparing for it "just in case"  is the only logical course of action.

But wait, he says,  you don't need to look at the data! Professional  Scientist organizations  have already endorsed AGW theory , and wouldn’t do that unless they were sure, because they have reputations to protect! Bernie Madoff had a reputation to protect too.  Reality is not determined by a consensus. Copernicus and Galileo were correct no matter how many “experts”  said they were heretics. Looking back through the history of science it is very easy to find multiple occurrences where the majority of the Scientific Community believed erroneous things, through simple and honest lack of knowledge. And many scientists in those times resisted newer and better explanations  because they had thrown their reputation behind an incorrect theory and wanted to save face. Scientists are people, and they are subject to the same honest and dishonest foibles as everyone else. With millions in grant money available, and their reputations already committed to a thoery that isn't playing out as expected,  they might just feel the need to bend the truth a little – or a lot, as those who read the climate gate emails can attest.

To a liberal trade-offs don’t exist. Scientists are never tempted by easy money, and are never concerned with their reputations. Mutant star Goats and auto wrecks are equally likely. The Facts don’t matter, opinions do. Liberals  believe so many impossible things before breakfast it would astound even the Queen of Hearts. Its irrefutable.

Socialist Measure of Success: Poverty Spread equally

Hillary Clinton suggests that the rich aren't paying their fair share - despite the fact that in our country, 70-90%  of the tax bill falls on a very small minority of the people. There aren't enough Rich to pay for the Obama budgets even if you confiscated 100% of everything they made.  She then goes on to say Brazil is a good model

Brazil? A Country where the average annual income is $10K , is the model? To a socialist "success" is how equally the poverty is spread. The idea of Prosperity is utterly beyond their comprehension.  TAXES ARE the "fare share" Hillary is talking about - how much of a fare you will pay them for the privilege of being productive. The "fare" is how much protection  money will be extorted  from you so that the Criminal Gang in charge of government will let you pursue your happiness without interference from them. To  socialist, freedom is what you have left over after they have made their demands on you - after all, thier needs are far more important and noble than yours.

Hillary even claims that under high tax rates Brazil is doing excellently.. and that the US used to do the same thing. Well, not if you look at the facts ( stubborn things facts)

GDP Growth by Tax Rate

Sorry, Hillary. The GDP growth rate trends higher when the top marginal rate is lower. the reason is simple. Private individuals know how to spend and invest their  money better than any individual in Government. The government might confiscate $10K for welfare to feed people for a month, and in the process buy dependant votes for their party, and violate the inalienable rights of each and every citizen. Meanwhile, the same money left in private hands can be used to start a business that will not only feed those people for a month, but provide them with JOBS and FOOD  for YEARS, provide still others with a useful product that makes their lives better, and maybe even enough profit that that SAME $10K could still be donated to charity by the business EVERY YEAR. All this, and at no point is our Democratic process inherently corrupted by letting politicians keep a herd of human sheep as pets who will vote for them. At no point are the inalienable rights of conscience, liberty or the pursuit of happiness violated.  At no point are nearly 60% of the funds siphoned off to line the pockets of the people who run the welfare agency. At no point are the Funds subject to fraudulent welfare claims.    All those qualities of Welfare are done in the name of enslaving the productive (those with abilities) to keep the unproductive (those with)  needs on the dole and dependant, for the common good (of the ruling class )

But in the end, they can't do it. When you are taxed at 70% on your 60 Hour work weeks, traveling away from your family, to support an artist entitled to your labor who quit their real job and is now  pursuing their hobby 20 Hours a week and spending the rest of the time with their families, you simply decide to become an artist too.  The Jobs provided by those people go away.  Risks on starting new businesses are not taken. What is the point of working hard, when the harder you work, the more is taken from you?  There isn't one.  that is the underlying motive force behind Hauser's Law: "No matter what the tax rates have been, in postwar America tax revenues have remained at about 19.5% of GDP."

Hauser's Law

The Huge deficits run by Bush, and the insane deficits being run by the Obama Administration can only result in one thing. What that One thing is, I will leave to the reader to discover on their own.

Fun Questions to Ask Liberals

  • Do you believe the Democrats in power now believe that Government power is limited? If so, by what?
  • Do you believe that most Democrats interpret the "Welfare Clause" to mean that they may do anything they feel is in the "general welfare" of the United States or any individual citizen thereof? Do you agree with that interpretation?
  • If the "Welfare Clause" does entitle the Federal government to do anything in the "general welfare", why did the founders include a list of enumerated powers that are all clearly in "the general Welfare?   Isn't that redundant?
  • If the "Welfare Clause" does entitle the Federal government to do anything in the "general welfare",  list, specifically, the powers and rights reserved to the people and the states by the 10th Amendment?
  • Were the founders silent on the meaning of the Welfare Clause? If not, what did they say it meant?
  • What meaning, if any, do you feel the people who ratified the constitution gave to that clause?
  • When you sign a contract with another person, do you expect the words of that contract to take on new meanings as time passes, or do you expect them to adhered to according to the understanding under which the contract was signed, rather than any meaning that might be given to them when taken out of context of the entire document?
  • Do you feel that the founders, who enacted a government whose legitimacy was based on the explicit consent of the governed, also gave that government the power to change and exercise new powers without the explicit consent of the governed?
  • If the Welfare clause is interpreted to mean that the Federal Government may do anything it deems to be in the General Welfare, does that include abridging their inalienable rights without their consent acquired via amendment?
  • If Jihadists were elected to government, could they use the "Welfare Clause" to justify the implementation of Sharia law, the subjugation of women and the forced conversion of all citizens to Islam, because they felt that doing so would be in the "general welfare"? Explain your answer.
  • Name the year(s) in which the people gave their consent for Federal Government to exercise the powers exercised in Obamacare?
  • Do you agree with Jefferson's idea, as expressed in the Declaration of Independence, that the purpose of the Government is to Protect the inalienable rights of its Citizens , and not  to promote "fairness", "Equality of Result", "Freedom from want" or "Freedom from Fear"?
  • Do you feel that the inalienable rights of citizens can be protected while also providing  "fairness", "Equality of Result", "Freedom from want" or "Freedom from Fear"?  Explain.
  • Do you agree with Jefferson's idea,  as expressed in the Declaration of Independence, that the Consent of the Governed is what makes the use of Government power legitimate, and without that consent any powers exercised  are unjust?
  • Is there such a thing as an illegitimate Tax or an Illegitimate use of government power? If so, how would we be able to identify such an abuse of power?
  • Do you feel the Constitution grants the Federal government to power to tax certain individuals for the SOLE benefit of other individuals, with no service being performed for the Tax Payer or the Government? If so, cite the date the People of the United States gave their consent to such a power
  • If the people never gave their consent to a power to redistribute wealth, is the use of such a power legitimate? Explain your answer.
  • Are the inalienable  rights of any individual violated when the government is used against its intended purpose, as stated by Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, without  the consent of the people, as a bully to confiscate money from some and entitle others to it to satisfy one groups idea of "morality" or "justice"?
  • Do you feel the following Statement is true or false. Explain your answer. "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy." -Alexis de Tocqueville
  • Do you think the above quote has any relevance to any current government programs? Explain.
  • If the government can tax as much as it wants and for any purpose, can it not be said to have a power to confiscate all of a man's labor without his consent? What term would you to describe that situation?
  • If the government passes a taxbreak for the wealthy, is the government  "giving money to the rich" or is it failing to forcefully confiscate money from those who have earned it? Whose money is it? Why?
  • If the law entitles one man to the labor of  another man without his consent, would it be fair to say that the man whose labor is so confiscated is a "slave" of the other man? If not, what term would you use?
  • If the law allows one man to force another man to work to provide for his children without that man's consent, would it be fair to say that the man  whose labor is so confiscated is a "slave" of the other man? If not, what term would you use?
  • If the law allows the government to force a citizen to care for another citizen without that man's consent, would it be fair to say that the man's whose labor is so confiscated is a "slave" of the government? If not, what term would you use?
  • Will calling the act of redistributing wealth without the consent of the governed, "slavery",  "thievery", "indentured servitude", "involuntary entitlement" , or "for the common good" in any way change the nature of the act?
  • Compare and contrast the institution of "slavery" with the act of redistributing wealth without the consent of the governed. How are they different? How are they similar?
  • What does the following quote mean to you? Do you feel it is correct or incorrect  in its sentiments?  Explain. "That is their argument, and this argument of the Judge [Douglas] is the same old serpent that says you work and I eat, you toil and I will enjoy the fruits of it. Turn in whatever way you will---whether it come from the mouth of a King, an excuse for enslaving the people of his country, or from the mouth of men of one race as a reason for enslaving the men of another race, it is all the same old serpent, and I hold if that course of argumentation that is made for the purpose of convincing the public mind that we should not care about this, should be granted, it does not stop with the [Black Man]*. I should like to know if taking this old Declaration of Independence, which declares that all men are equal upon principle and making exceptions to it where will it stop. If one man says it does not mean a [Black Man]*, why not another say it does not mean some other man?" -Abraham Lincoln
  • When it is right to make one man toil and let another eat the fruits of it? Explain your answer
  • Is it wrong or evil to forcefully confiscate the labor of a man because he decided to toil to benefit others who did not work as hard, or perhaps not at all?  Explain your answer?
  • Is it right to deprive a man of his property because he is better at producing wealth and material goods than others around him? Explain your answer.
  • Does using threats of violence to confiscate the fruits of one person's labor, and entitling another to the benefit of them,  violate the inalienable rights of either man? Explain your answer.
  • Should hiring a thug to break into a  house, with the good intention of  funding personal cause or charity, be illegal?
  • If the government was incapable of providing welfare, social security, or health care,  would Liberals have the moral right and obligation to break into their neighbor's houses and steal from them, at gunpoint,  the funds required to provide for such causes?
  • If the government uses the threat of imprisonment to do the same, without the consent of the governed, it that legitimate use of government power? Explain.
  • When this is done, how is it different than an individual hiring a thug?
  • Should the minority be protected in their individual  rights from the tyranny of the majority? If so, should this only happen when the cause is co-incident with your own ideas of right and wrong?
  • Does Might make Right?
  • Explain what is meant by  "the right of conscience"
  • Explain what is meant by "the right to pursue happiness"
  • Explain what is meant by "the right to liberty"
  • When soldiers join the Military, do they swear an oath to defend the "standing government" or to they swear to defend the constitution? Why?
  • When Congress is sworn in, do they swear an oath to defend the "standing government" or to they swear to defend the constitution? Why?
  • When the President is sworn in does he  swear an oath to defend the "standing government" or to he swear to defend the constitution? Why?
  • When a Supreme Court Justice is sworn in,  does he  swear an oath to defend the "standing government" or  does he   swear to defend the constitution? Why?
  • What does "defending the Constitution" Mean?
  • If a person declares they have the right to violently interfere with others without their consent, violate the inalienable rights of others  and ignore the constitution and its procedures and limits  for running the republic, are they in rebellion against the Constitution? Explain. Would it be fair to call such a person a "traitor"?
  • What is your reaction to the following quote? Do you feel it is true or false? Explain. "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals. - C.S. Lewis"
  • Do you think of your fellow men as domestic animals who should be under your care, guidance and protection? If so, why do you feel you are qualified for such role?  Would Jihadists and Nazis also be qualified? If not, how could one distinguish when a person's idea of the "common good"  for such animals should be used or discarded?
  • * N*gro is apparently a "bad word" according to Town Hall's censor.  Do you feel that certain words should be restricted in their use if they violate your idea of polite speech?
  • Does your idea of polite speech extend to your own words, or are those rules onlt for those who say things you don't want to hear? Explain
  • Do you feel the current Democrats in Congress and the Presidency are following your idea of civility when they call thier political opposition names like "nazi", "teabagger" and "terrorist"?  Do you feel that calls for civility from such people are hypocritical in any way? Explain.

Sworn Oaths

Their immediate feelings trump everything else. They hate everything about America and hate flag-waving patriots who believe the promises we make to each other should be kept. They believe it is right to take all you can get now, and reward your friends and buy votes with their ill gotten gains. They are foreigners in America, who have occupied our government and have no intentions of following its rules.  They say people who are dependant upon their largess and taking Social Security are hypocrites for opposing them, never acknowledging  that those people were forced into those systems. Are slaves hypocrites for wishing to be free, just because they are provided with food, housing and a job by the slave master? They claim that no "good person" could vote for a Republican, and generally treat them with distain and disrespect. Liberals  think of themselves as "people of good conscience", a kind of moral superman, entitled to impose their view of the world on others, and are no different from the "good Germans" that Hitler defined.  In reality,  Democrats  are morally colorblind - Barbarians at the gates. They see the wealth of the productive as ripe for plundering, and scoff at any idea that property and wealth belong to the person who produced them. They will be siezed to benefit the Barbarian horde! Might Makes Right! Like a Hunter/Gatherer tribe finding a field of corn, they can't understand why they should not have a share of something that is there in front of them - the work of the farmer in cultivating his field is meaningless to them. To a liberal a Farmer is  no different than the bees and insects  that worked to pollenate the  crop. Leftists do not see the people who produce around them  as people; real beings with feelings and rights of their own. To a liberal, the farmer, the productive person,  is just  part of the landscape and environment that provides for them, and they will hunt, kill and sacrifice that animal if they see fit to do so.

This is why the  Democratic Party wishes to ignore our civil contract, the constitution, in the attainment of its goals, which of their nature deny  our citizens thier  inalienable rights. Like the spoiled girl Veruka in Willy Wonka, they demand a Golden Ticket and don't give a crap who must work to pay for it or how they are forced to do so.  The Democrats will not listen to reason, and lack the empathy or intelligence  to see that what they do is wrong.  Liberal's calls for "civility" are a ruse,  a means of shutting civilized people up. A Means by which they cloase discussion of their behavior by claiming wrong doing on the part of others.  The left was far from civil during the Bush years, and it is far from Civil now.  Liberals worry about individuals with "dangerous" guns  - while simultaneously training the might and force of the Most Powerful Government in the world on their political opponents and pretending it isn't a weapon. They  scream bloody murder when true Patriots  suggest that we may need to defend ourselves against the  tyranny and violence being imposed with that weapon. Think of spoiled Veruka with a Gun, and see if that thought doesn't chill you. That is what we are up against.

Don't Be a Sucker

Check out this 1947 Video entitled "Don't be a Sucker" about the Nazi's use of grievence politics to Gain control of  Germany

The Democrats are actively trying to divide us by prejudices and stoking grievances - Rich Businessmen  against Poor workers.  The Privileged White man robbing the Black man of jobs. The Racist Conservative against the illegal immigrant. The Patriarchical Society of Business Men oppressing women. Homophobic Straight against persecuted gay.  Why is the GOP  characterized as being the Party of the evil, selfish, uncaring, homophobic, racist, Swastika carrying  ,scrotum sucking, teabagging, mouth breathing , hillbilly, illiterate, domestic terrorist White Man Neanderthal who irrationally clings to his gun and his bible ? Because he is the Fascist Left's "Jew" - the cause of all of the country's woes.

Like the Nazi's,  Democrats promise you will get your fair share of the wealth and power hoarded unfairly by the evil White Racist Businessmen in the new regime they will impose - Hope and Change! They will pump up your ego and give your life real meaning. Opposing the evil White Man and joining with the Democrat Party makes you Special. Enlightened. Caring.  A kind of Morally Superior Master Race. A Superman.  As such you are justified in whatever  you must do to violate the rights of others! After all you are saving the World! Steal their property for your causes,  take over their businesses, and put your political puppets in charge, make them work to pay our Party member's bills!! Everyone will bow to our Parties morality - one World, one village, one voice, and we will punish you if you are politically incorrect - you will be kicked out of school, you will lose your job. Don't you dare mention that the Peaceful religion of Islam teaches Death to the Infidel. Don't you dare voice your deeply held religious conviction that homosexuality is a sin. Don't you dare speak ill of people being deadbeats or having poor performance if they have a certain color of skin! The Democrats will dictate what beliefs are acceptable! We will silence you with hate speech laws and politically correct speech codes! You are not allowed to express your own opinions, no matter how true or trivial - the people of the Party deserve and demand your respect!  Don't listen to Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, or  The Founding Fathers!  They were all Rich Racist Homophobic Men!  Don't listen to them! Silence Them! Don't listen to Sarah Palin - She is not a Real Woman!  Don't listen to Coulter, she is evil!  Don't listen to any of "THEM" . "THEY" should be silenced! "WE", the enlightened Master race will give you what "THEY" unfairly took from you. Join with us and we will bring Hope and Change to the World!

This is causing the divisions the liberals pretend to  lament in our country: The Same Tactics the Nazi's used to divide Germany are being used on us today and the suckers are falling for it. Your rights end where another's begin. The Right to Property, the Right of Conscience, the Right to make your own decisions are all being taken away with Obamacare, without the consent of the governed.

The Left calls for Civility from the Right, but they are unwilling to act civilly themselves. They wish to break our Civil Contract, the Constitution, and make changes without the consent of the people. They wish to call the Right awful names, but cry foul when the Right retaliates in kind. Demand your right to the fruits of your own labor, and they will steal your property, and call you selfish.  Demand to be heard and they will punish you for speaking.  Worst of all, they wish to give you a greivence against your Fellow Americans, who have done NOTHING and ASKED NOTHING but to be left alone to make their own money, give to charity according to their own conscience, and make their own decisons concerning what is best for them. "Unacceptable!", cries the Left, " Those attitudes are what is wrong with this country!"

If you Scratch a Liberal, you will Find a Fascist. Every. Single. Time.

The only Common Ground is Geographic

Our Nation has become ideologically divided along lines that I do not believe are reconcilable. We appear to have one Group that largely believes in the Ethics and Principles of our Founding Fathers, and another who largely opposes them.
The Former Group, which I will refer to as the “Tea Party”, appears to  believe:

* Individuals have Inalienable Rights that NO GOVERNMENT may infringe upon without their consent. A Right is a restriction on Government Power

* That the Constitution is only Valid when taken as an expression of that Consent, and therefore its ORIGINAL MEANING as understood by the people is paramount in determining the laws under which we live.  It was a contract between the people to form a government, with limited powers, with all other powers being reserved to the people or to the States. A process for Amendment was provided for changes to the contract, and amendment is the only VALID means of changing its meaning, because it is the only method which preserves the explicit consent of the people.

* the role of Government is to prevent individuals from doing demonstrable harm to each other through the violation of an individual's inalienable rights, and administering institutions set up for the general welfare and with the people's express consent. Fundamentally the Government’s goal is to protect the inalienable rights of its citizens from attack from either within or without.

* It is the individual’s responsibility to pursue and ensure his own happiness in accord with his abilities, and his right to decide between right and wrong and when, if and how to contribute to the welfare of his fellow man.

The Latter Group, which I will refer to as the “Coffee Party”, appears to believe:

* The Government has the right to suspend or modify the Rights of individuals without resort to Amendment, and can do so purely through the legislative process. In effect this means that personal liberty is what you have left over after a simple majority have made their demands upon you. A Right is a benefit given to all or some using the confiscated labors of others.

* The Constitution is open to modification and interpretation without a need to obtain the express consent of the people.

* The Primary role of government isn't merely to protect, but to ensure its citizens "do the right thing" as determined by a simple majority, and to correct imbalances perceived by the simple majority to be unfair.  In short, to take care of its citizens as a farmer maintains the animals on his farm - ensuring each receives food, health care, sand shelter, making use of animals most suited for work to do that work, and using the proceeds to care for all.

* Responsibility for the care of any individual who either cannot or will not provide for  themselves falls to the community, who will then use the force of government to indenture certain individuals to entitle the fruits of their labor to those who cannot or will not care for themselves.

The two groups appear to have fundamentally different and I believe irreconcilable ideas of freedom, equality, property rights, personal responsibility and the role of government. (I am sure that many will object to the way and terms in which I have described and defined the differences, and I respectfully ask that rather than complain about terms, they offer definitions and terms of their own, and/or explain HOW and WHY they feel mine are deficient)

Thus we have a battle between two seemingly irreconcilable worldviews, and to make matters worse, this ideological battle is not being fought in each individual state, but at the Federal Level, in a game of winner takes all.

The Federal Government was originally formed to handle Federal issues. It was not originally granted the power by the people to run any sort of Social Program. Any perusal of the Debates both public, and private over the Welfare clause will reveal that many opposed ratification because the Welfare clause would be used to justify the Government doing anything that might be construed, however, tangentially, as in the public welfare.  Proponents of the Constitution argued that such an interpretation would nullify the entire purpose of the system, rendering it meaningless. Not satisfied with that bulwark, the people passed the 10th Amendment making the restriction on the Federal powers very explicit.

If the battle over Welfare, Health Care, Social Security, Medicare etc were fought at the individual State level, individuals could vote with their feet, and much of this conflict would be reserved to individual States. Alas, we are not in a situation where the Federal Government has grown in power such that these issues must be contested at the national level. Regardless of if you see that growth in power as Constitutional or not, the size and power of the Federal Government allows large Private Corporate interests and individual politicians wider opportunities for graft.  A Corporation could do nothing to interfere with the decisions of a Government that does not have the power to make those decisions, and 50 Individual State Governments would certainly be more difficult to infiltrate and corrupt than one large one far removed from local accountability and scrutiny. This is a large part of the reason the Founders wanted a limited National Government (though even they argued over those limits) - because no government can be trusted to preserve individual liberty - even one based on Democratic principles.

I am afraid Geographic Separation of the two ideologies, according to the Federal Model would be the best one available.  Unfortunately, the latter ideological model of the Coffee Party requires the individual rights of those with the abilities to be sacrificed to the “greater good”, and this usually causes those individuals to seek societies based on the Tea Party Model.  This is why Societies like Cuba and the Soviet Union have sought to prevent their most able citizens from voting with their feet.  Individual States would not be able to use such draconian measures, and I believe this is much of the motivation behind the desire of the Coffee Party to make Progressive issues, Federal issues.

Fundamentally, those who subscribe to the ideology of the Tea Party, feel bullied by their progressive neighbors who elect officials who then proceed to abuse and exceed the powers granted in our mutual contract with our neighbors, with the purpose of forcefully  indenturing  them into the service of  their neighbor’s moral  code. This use of government violates their right to pursue happiness through the fruits of their own labor and their Right conscience is violated by forcing them into supporting programs they find morally reprehensible, and to which the people never gave their explicit consent.

A person who subscribes to the (progressive) ideals of the Coffee Party, finds nothing wrong in their actions. They feel that a simple majority is sufficient to deprive individuals of their inalienable rights, and that the Constitution as it stands and is interpreted today is legitimate without the requirement of express consent. As a result they see no reason to desist in the use of Government Force against their neighbors in the pursuit of their goals.

A simple solution would be to allowing those who do not wish to take part in the Social and Moral programs offered by Progressive Proponents via the force of Government, to make a decision to not participate in them and not to fund them. The Amish already have such an option with regards to Social Security, and instead rely upon the goodwill of their family, friends, neighbor and church to care for them in old age. However, most progressives seem unwilling to allow this sort of freedom to individuals, presumably for the same reason that most communist countries try to prevent their most productive citizens from leaving. Progressive seem unwilling to "Live and Let Live" and seem bent on using government power to make some people live for the benefit of others and the self-satisfaction of those who thing they can determine the "common good"

The "power" of Big Corporations

How do entities who must get money through voluntary transactions, become "powerful"?  Simple. They Lobby and/or Bribe Government officals to pass rules and regulations that benefit them, and deter their competition - either in the forms of smaller firms that provide the same products and services, or by preventing firms offering alternative  technologies from entering the marketplace. Big Business and Big Corporations only have power when there is Big Govenment - of the type that Liberals advocate. .

While Big Corporations can buy influence, Government officals can extort it from Corporations.  Sometimes the goals align and sometimes they do not.The financial crises was caused not by "Captialism", but by governmentcoercing Big Business Banks  into changing thier lending practices. This coercion was applied by denying banks the right to expand if they did not meet with the Politicans goals concenring Homeownership. However, the Big Banks eventually worked out a mutually benefical deal , where bad loans would be bought by the GSE's,  resecuritized, fraudulently rated, and the risk placed on the tax payer and not the bank.  Banks Made Profits. Politicans Scored political points, and the American People suffer.  Without the Guarantee that Big Government would bsail them out,  those banks would have been forced to assume those risks themselves, and consequently would never have made the decison to take those risks.

The Government's role in our society to be restricted to one of preventing on individual or entity from doing harm to another. Even limited powers such as this can be a opportnuity for Graft and Corruption. Add, however, the opportunity to not just prevent harm, but the duty to make certain things happen , like freeing people from want or fear, and the opportunities multiply a hundred fold. Obama's deal with Big Pharma would never had occurred without Obama's assertion that the Government had the power to reform the insurance industry and healthcare for the "common good."  The "common good" is most of the reason Health Care needs fixing, as government rule already warped that industry by preventing selling over state lines, mandates of  covergage, and tax incentives for business that make insurance an employer based perk rather than a portable individual service.

Liberals who rail against the Corporatist Control should realize that their Big Government agenda strengthens it. Obama's Presidency should be evidence enough of that. If the Left really wanted to break the "power" of Big Business, they have to do nothing but deny the Government the power to give those corporations what they want , and return the Federal government to its original and Constitutional Limits. Sadly, the left will never do such a thing, because what they really seek is power for themselves to make Corporations (and othrs) do as they wish - not to prevent harm to others,  but to ensure that everyone acts according to the left's idea of a  moral code. This sort of control of its nature presents the huge opportunities for back room deals and Corporate entitlements  we see Obama, his Adminstration and the Congressional Democrats dealing in. For those who understand human nature, and who do not have the left's desire for totalitarian control of others,  it is obvious that the government that governs least, governs best.

The Reality Based Community

Appartly if you are Liberal, you can't beleive in an objective reality. At least, objective reality seems to be at odds with the progressive agenda of that pulbication anyway.

"At a very fundamental, core level, Springston did not share our vision for a news publication with a progressive perspective. He held on to the notion that there was an objective reality that could be reported objectively, despite the fact that that was not our editorial policy at Atlanta Progressive News. It just wasn’t the right fit.. We believe there is no such thing as objective news. Typically, mainstream media presents itself as objective but is actually skewed towards promoting the corporate agenda of the ultra-wealthy."

That to claim that people's inherent biases make objectivity difficult or even impossible isn't in dispute,  but claiming that there is not an objective reality to reported on, percieved however inaccurately, is simply stupid.

Sadly, this is exactly what a Liberal means when they claim one culture is "as good" as another, or one opinion is "as good" as another. They are claiming that there is no objective reality to measure opinions against for accuracy, effectiveness, or even even practical concerns.  Liberals feel free to ingore your reality and substitute their own, feeling free to discard evidence that conflicts, because their perception is "as good as" everyone elses. This coming from people who call them selves the "reality based community"

A Mandate is Not Freedom

William Galston’s article from the New Republic is a wonderful example that illustrates nearly everything I say about the Liberal/Progressive/Statist mindset on this blog,  demonstrates the childish tactic of "Framing," ( If you can’t deal with what the terms “Liberty”  or "progress" mean, even as you youselve have defined, them,  then by all means quiely redefine it and then argue using the new definition.) and provides an excellent insightn into the Left's idea of "freedom"

“At the heart of the conservative misunderstanding of liberty is the presumption that government and individual freedom are fundamentally at odds. “

Mr. Galston sets up a convenient straw man and knocks him down. Conservatives DO NOT believe Government (as a concept) is at odds with Individual Freedom, IF that Government’s primary purpose and actual actions are TO PRESERVE IT. Contrary to Galston's assertion below, Freedom does exist in the abstract. Freedom means being able to determine and follow your own course unimpeded by forceful and violent interference from others. Progress is a government that succeeds in reducing the forceful interference of others, and increasing the choices that are available to individuals.

Galston agrees: ” There is no inherent contradiction between progress and liberty. Simply put, removing issues from the political agenda—placing them beyond dispute—often promotes liberty. After political contestation and a bloody war, we decided that slavery was impermissible, and we reordered our laws and institutions accordingly. A century later, we made a parallel decision about racial discrimination, with similar consequences.”

The examples cited both represented increased liberty for individuals and a reduction in the violent interference with their actions. If those are examples of progress and liberty , how can the use of Government to LIMIT the CHOICES of INDIVIDUALS and the USE OF FORCE to compel certain actions ALSO be considered progress ? Obamacare (and many other Liberal programs)  mandates the government violently interfere with individuals, the antithesis of what Galston presents here as "progress". Galston’s disingenuous and deliberate misuse of the term so defined  in  support of such programs  is simply Orwellian.

Galston goes on to explain that “At the heart of any liberal understanding of freedom is the proposition that public power can advance freedom as well as undermine it. In the real world, there is no such thing as freedom in the abstract. There are only specific freedoms, which differ in their conditions and consequences. FDR famously enumerated four such freedoms, dividing them into two pairs: freedom of speech and worship; freedom from want and fear. The first pair had long been recognized and enshrined in the Constitution. The second were a new formulation, and Roosevelt made them concrete when he signed Social Security into law, justifying it as a way of promoting freedom from want: "We have tried to frame a law which will give some measure of protection to the average citizen and to his family ... against poverty-ridden old age." Three years later, he declared that Social Security payments will "furnish that minimum necessary to keep a foothold; and that is the kind of protection Americans want."

If  we are talking about freedom, one of the paramount freedoms is the right to live under a government of one’s own choosing that exercises powers granted  by the People’s consent – a Freedom Mr. Galston thinks should be denied whenever the “exigencies of the moment” allow them to impose an enduring tyrannical usurpation as a legacy. Galston decides to redefine the term “liberty”  into a “specific” grants of license provided to individuals by the Federal Government, in complete contradiction to the text of the 10th Amendment and the Declaration of Independence which claims all men are granted by their creator certain inalienable rights. Instead Galston equates rights that were ratified by the people, through a process of their own consent, with those pronounced by fiat by a President during a speech, claiming that FDRs bald faced usurpation of power is legitimate because  the Government must be “adequate to the exigencies of the moment” – even after  the conditions of those moments that may have legitimatized TEMPORARY actions have long since passed. After all, a crisis is a terrible thing to waste.

The  Bill of Rights restricts the govrnment from  interfering with the Freedom of Speech ,  Freedom of Worship, both concepts closely linked to the Right of Conscience. They are  all RESTRICTIONS on GOVERNMENT POWER. Yet Galston says these do not conflict with rights that MANDATE WHAT THE GOVERNMENT MUST DO and therefore must COMPEL the People to support, even if such compulsion violates the Right of Conscience or other inalienable rights granted by our Creator. Apparently, to Galston , Freedom is what you have left over after others have made their demands.

Galston asks, “if what we really have is a dispute between two competing understandings of liberty—which should we prefer?”

Obviously some people prefer one, and some the other. America’s Constitution and Traditions are obviously based on the broader, more abstract version of liberty in which individual decision making and responsibility are protected by government, while  most Socialist and Communist Countries are based on Galston’s  “Modern logic of Liberty” in which individuals are granted certain freedoms and privileges by a government devoted to protecting the common good through the forced sacrifice of certain individuals . Mr. Galston, and every other liberal in America, is of course free to vote with their feet, though,  ironically,  that is  an ability denied to many people in the  many of the countries which adhere to Mr. Galston’s definition of "liberty". Instead Mr. Galston and his kind wish to remain in America, and settle permanently the question of which type of freedom will be allowed to reign in this world, by denying the American people the freedom to choose their own form of government.  This, of course, they would see as “Progress”

Galston claims “those who have experienced the freedoms made possible by the New Deal are not so dismissive. It is often observed, rightly, that Social Security has virtually eliminated poverty among the elderly. But this noble achievement has an equally profound flip side. Throughout human history, those who reached the age where they could no longer work have typically depended on their children or on charity for their basic subsistence. Social Security broke this age-old dependency by giving the elderly a minimum degree of economic self-sufficiency, expanding their range of effective control over the conditions of their post-retirement years.”

This is the Same Social Security that is now insolvent? The Same Social security that  so obviously violates the  right of conscience, the that the Amish do not pay taxes for it? The Same social Security that now removes the choice of children provide for the elderly and makes it a mandate backed by force?
Galston is right to distinguish between Social Security and Charity, because Charity is a VOLUNTARY ACT- an Act of Freedom. Social Security is a form of indentured servitude that allows the elderly to live upon the forceful confiscation of the efforts of the young – the same young , that once old will have been robbed both of their own Social Security entitlement and of the Investments they could have made with the money forcefully taken from them.  But the seniors benefit from the FREEDOM of “economic self-sufficiency “given them through the forced indentured servitude of others.

White Slave Holders in the Confederate South also enjoyed “economic self-sufficiency” through the forced labor of others. Fundamentally, the left has never rejected the idea of slavery. Like those White Slave Masters, Liberals wish to provide  their slaves with a job, and decide what amount of each  slave’s labor will be returned to  them in the form of Housing, clothing, food, medical care or other benefits, rewarding house slaves with more freedom and lighter duties and getting as much as they can out of those with the best abilities.  For liberals the problem with the institution of slavery was never the use of force to enslave men, but rather the intent of the enslavers:  Slave Owners in the South owned slaves for their own profit, liberals wish to enslave others to "help" them.  Liberals see no ethical probelm with using the government to forcefully indenture some, for the benefit of the whole, toact as a benevolent Slave Master who will determine how much of our own effort it would be "fair" to allow us tokeep and how much freedom we each should be allowed to enjoy.

Galston claims  “ when the Tea Partiers complain that a government health insurance mandate invades their liberty, they reveal a defective understanding of the logic of liberty in a modern society. Individuals who choose to go without health insurance could try to resolve the contradiction by signing a document foreswearing all reliance on health care they didn’t pay for themselves. But, because our medical norms don’t permit us to leave injured accident victims at the side of the road, such a document couldn’t be enforced.”

Who is establishing these “medical Norms?” Is it the Doctors? If so, why is the decision of a Doctor to provide Charity to someone who has acted irresponsibly become harmful to everyone else? If a doctor providing charity to others causes harm, why not make it illegal for that doctor to provide Charity? In many cases it is the opposite, and the Government has forced Doctors Provide such "Charity" – denying them the right of Conscience – and effectively mandating that a Doctor cannot “irresponsibly” refuse to take care of someone who cannot repay the services rendered.  Once having denied doctors thier inalienable rights, Galston then uses his “modern logic of liberty”  to justify denying the general population thier rights by claiming the government must now outlaw the irresponsible behavior  of not carrying insurance, because the government has already forced Doctors to treat the uninsured. Some versions of Obamacare have gone  further and mandated that everyone must contribute to the killing of unborn children, which, in over 95% of the cases, is an elective procedure used as a form of Birth control. After all, given the current medical practices, it’s the only “practical” solution. Of cours, to a liberal, its only “practical “ to deal with the “modern crisis”  by forcing  people to make what Liberal’s consider to be the right, the responsible or the best decisions, and to support what they feel to be the correct  programs and institutions.  Just as the King of England felt it was “practical” to deal with his decision to break with the Catholic Church by mandating individuals  attend and  support the Anglican Church. Just  as Slave Masters felt slavery was  “practical” because it could care for blacks who  obviously couldn’t deal with the responsibility of being Free and taking care of themselves.

In the end Galston is trying to obfuscate the real Liberal version of  Freedom – The freedom to Force “the community” to free others from their burden of  personal decision making and individual responsibility  for the consequences  of those decisions. Or, if you prefer, the Freedom to make some pay for the irresponsible actions of others and the Freedom to make some  behave as others think they should.

In the end this is an argument not between Freedom and Government, but about the Role of Government should play in our lives. Is the government there by mutual consent to protect Individual Freedoms and the inalienable rights of its citizens and their property, and prevent individuals  from doing harm to others? Or is Government to be imposed on the people without their consent to provide “freedom from want” and “freedom from fear”  by  not only perventing individuals from causing harmto others, but mandating also what Individuals  must do for others,  thus  depriving them of their  individual right to make their own decisions, legalizing the  plunder of individual property and effort, and forcing individuals to become  indentured servants forced to  fund and pursue  goals they may find morally and ethically reprehensible?

The Party of No

This "Party of No" meme is as laughable as it is hypocritical and pathetic.  Here was the party of "no" in 2006.
Obstructionism  is part of the politics, but Democrats are trying to turn it into some moral failing on the part of the GOP.
The fact is, Democrats have had a super majority in both houses for a year now. No one has been able to say "no"  to them but themselves. But they can't admit that- if there is one thing you can count on it is that the Party that advocates freedom from Responsibility would never admit its their own fault they have accomplished nothing. Its Bush's Fault. Its the GOPs Fault. Its theWhite Man keeping me down. Its the Patriarchy keeping me down.  Its the Religious Right keeping me down.  Its the Rich Keeping me down.
Victimhood is the shield  Liberals use to prtect thier fragile 5 year old egosfrom bitter reality. .
In this case the reality is that the Obama/Pelosi/Reid Agenda is so Anti-American, so anti-freedom and so repugnant that Democrats can't even count on votes from their own party, to the point where they must bribe their own members to vote for their bills, and they still have the gall to imply there is something wrong with the GOP saying "no?" The Democratic agenda is so hideous that even Massachusetts liberals held their noses and voted for Brown so they could put a stop to it. The Party of NO now includes an overwhelming majority of Americanswho WANT the GOP to be the party of No, but these self-appointed despots don't intend to stop. After all, only a moron would support the dangerous ideas of freedom, inalienable rights  and limited government  that founded this nation.

A Really Good One Term President

Name  all of the really good One-term Presidents.  They simply don't exist.  If you were "really good", the American people would vote you in for a second term.  So how does Obama think this "really Good One Term President" Scenario comes about?

Simple. He Thinks the American people are rubes and morons, and that once he has despotically done what they have empahtically said they don't want, the American People will realize that he was really right all along and praise him for his fortitude in the face of the people's determined opposition.  Fundamentally this is what every Democrat, Liberal, Progressive and Statist Believes: That the Ends Justify the Means, and people who don't agree with that agenda are morons. Liberals are convinced that if they just break some eggs, a utopian omlett  is right around the corner.

Of course, I might be giving Obama too much credit. Perhaps he doesn't want to be seen as a really great one term President by the American people. Perhaps he is trying to gain the praise of the Statist  Despots he admires worldwide for singlehandedly brining America to its knees.  If one  were President and wanted to destroy America, diminish her power and influence in the world and subjugate her people, what would one  be doing Differently that President Obama and the Democrats?
